Releases published from my npm account. Downloads from the npm registry, August 2020 – August 2024.
One client behind the tools
ryuu-client holds authentication and the design, asset, and app APIs. The CLI and the proxy both depend on it, so login and request handling change in one place.
Local development against real data
ryuu-proxy is Express and Connect middleware. It intercepts an app’s data and API calls on the local dev server and forwards them, authenticated with the developer’s CLI login, to their Domo instance.
Replacing a deprecated HTTP stack
The request library was deprecated in 2020. All three packages moved to axios, with cookie-jar support for session cookies and a proxy agent for corporate networks.
Prerelease channels
Changes shipped to alpha and beta dist-tags before stable releases, so app developers could test CLI and proxy changes before they became the default install.
My contribution
Primary maintainer of ryuu, ryuu-client, and @domoinc/ryuu-proxy at Domo. The npm registry lists my account as the only publisher of all three from November 2020 to August 2024.
Published 186 versions: 101 of ryuu, 46 of ryuu-client, and 39 of @domoinc/ryuu-proxy, including 47 stable releases and alpha and beta prereleases.
Migrated the CLI to TypeScript and replaced the deprecated request, request-promise, and Bluebird HTTP stack with axios across all three packages.
Added a domo proxy command and HTTP proxy support so developers behind corporate proxies could log in, develop, and publish.
Results
About 114,000 npm downloads across the three packages from August 2020 to August 2024. npm counts include CI and automated installs.
The packages remain Domo’s published tooling for custom apps. Releases after August 2024 were made by other maintainers.
